In 2021, she was a keynote speaker for the 5th International conference of Dalcroze Studies, ICDS5. Her presentation, MUSIC, MOVEMENT AND MAGIC: FROM STUDIO TO SCREEN – INSPIRING CHILDREN THROUGH DALCROZE EURHYTHMICS IN CHALLENGING TIMES was positively received. Included was an example of the music and mindfulness resources she created during lockdown for the RCM, 'Listening Journeys' which can be found on the RCM's digital resources page here.
Lessons and workshops with Kathryn include, as well as technical work and repertoire, music games for developing rhythm and expression. Equipment such as rhythmic gymnastics balls, tennis balls, scarves, trampette, percussion instruments are used to develop the pupil's musicality. Holistic, accessible teaching, and it's fun!
Kathryn is currently the Dalcroze Eurhythmics teacher for the Royal College of Music Junior Department and Sparkles outreach project. She teaches privately from her home in West Worthing, and is also available to lead music workshops for teachers.
She regularly performs as an accompanist and holds pupils' concerts a number of times a year.
